4 Mistakes to Avoid When Cooking Goat Meat

Not cooking long enough

Goat meat can be pretty tough so it needs time to break down and become tender. Rushing the cooking process will leave it tough and chewy ( except you like it tough and chewy)

Not adding enough water

Unlike beef, Goat meat requires a lot of water to cook. You don't want to keep adding water during the cooking time, or it will interfere with the seasoning of the meat. So, fill your pot with water above the meat right from the start

Using too many ingredients from the start

Always add onions and garlic at the start of your cooking process, this helps to tenderize your goat meat. After about half an hour, you can add your preferred seasonings. After another 30 minutes of boiling, you can choose to add more onions and peppers if you so desire for flavour.

Tip: Taste as you go along – but make final adjustments at the very end.

Turning up the heat

People often make the mistake of turning on high heat to cook the goat meat faster. Goat meat can dry out quickly at high temperature stripping it of flavour. Turn down the heat and cook it more slowly to lock in flavour and ensure a smooth, tender finish for the meat.
